Volleyball Keeps Pushing

The Principia College volleyball team started day two of the Rhodes Invitational competing against Millsaps College.  Principia met Millsaps big block in a hurr and with a few blocked balls and a couple of unforced errors Principia was down 3-10.  The Panthers kept fighting like they have shown they can - all weekend long, and pulled ahead 20-19.  The game was a fight the entire time with Principia taking game one 30-28.  All of the games had that kind of excitement, with back and forth leads and iinspiring comebacks, but in the end Principia fell to Millsaps 1-3.

This match showed a very solid team effort, building on the good points of yesterday.  The outside hitter combo of Anne Goodrich-Stuart and Hannah Richards combined to hit over a 100 balls, and together accumulated 30 kills.  These two also led from the service line with 2 aces apiece and each serving 93%. Freshman Sarah Howard had a nice showing putting down 5 kills on only 12 attempts from the right side. Hillary Moser had some sharp net play tallying 4 blocks and setter Tara Edwards added another 2 blocks.

The team plays one more match against host Rhodes College at 5:00pm today.
