Women's basketball wins latest match-up vs. Stephens College

COLUMBIA, MISS. - This evening the women's basketball team traveled to Columbia, MO to play Stephens College in their final match-up of 2014.  The game overall was a bit sloppy, with the Panthers able to jump out to an early lead despite turnovers. Senior captain Karina Olsen was able maintain some consistency for Principia (she was the game's leading scorer and rebounder) and after a chaotic first half, the Panthers were up 35-21.

In the 2nd half the Panthers were able to clean up their game a bit, cutting down on their turnovers and converting some solid possessions offensively.  Every Panther got into the game and contributed significant minutes, ending with three Panthers scoring in double figures - sophomore forward Rachel Perea with 10 points, Kara Johnson with 15, and Olsen with a season-high 25 points.  At the final buzzer, the Panthers secured a 21-point victory, defeating Stephens by a score of 69-48.  Principia ended with seven Panthers on the scoreboard, and Olsen added a career-high 20 rebounds to her stat line.

The women's basketball team will play their next game in the new year, hosting Spalding University on January 3rd, 2015.  Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
