Tre Goodman had a tremendous opportunity to play in an elite level 7s Tournament on the weekend of August 23rd through the 25th, called the "RugbyTown USA 7s". This event attracts all-star and sele
ct side teams from all over the USA and as far away as England. Tre did not make the cut for the USA College All Star team, which was made up mostly of players from two divisions above Principia's regular competitive division; but he was immediately
scooped up by the Merlins. The Merlins are an all-star team based in Denver made up primarily of professional rugby players He played in every game, and scored multiple tries for them; showing his great footwork and blazing speed. His defense also improved all weekend resulting in many tackles being made too.
This was another wonderful step in Tre's growth as a 7s rugby player. He played against most of the top players in the USA, some Fijians and many players from the elite levels of rugby. Despite being his first elite level event, Tre held his own and soaked up all of the wisdom he could. He is now comfortable playing at this level, and will continue moving up the ladder towards his dream of playing for the USA National Team: the USA EAGLES.
When asked about the privilege, Tre commented, "Being able to represent the Principia Thunder Chickens and my country as a USA All-American at the highest level is an honor that I'll cherish forever."
