ELSAH, IL – Principia College will be transitioning to a single head coach model overseeing both the men's and women's tennis programs
. This change aligns with common practice across Division III institutions and is intended to strengthen program consistency, streamline operations, and support the continued development of our student-athletes.
As part of this transition
, Coach Damian Jones, who took over the men's program last season, will be departing from his role with the College. We are grateful for Damian's contributions, particularly his support of student-athletes and his positive presence within our campus community. We wish him the very best in his next chapter.
With this shift, Coach
Shannon Gordon-Carney's role as Head Coach will expand to include both the men's and women's tennis programs, effective immediately. Shannon brings extensive coaching experience, including 16 years with Principia's tennis program. She has demonstrated a strong commitment to recruiting and player development, as well as a deep understanding of our program and the student-athlete experience. We are confident in her ability to provide continuity and guide the program forward within this unified structure.
