Christian Tresoldi hired as Head Men's Soccer Coach

ELSAH, IL – We are thrilled to announce the hire of Christian Tresoldi as Principia College's new Head Men's Soccer Coach.

Outgoing head coach, Markus Bathelt, has decided to pursue new career opportunities in California, and we would like to thank him for all he did leading the program the last two seasons.

Tresoldi served as an assistant coach for the program in 2025, helping lead the Panthers to the SLIAC semifinals. He also served the department as an assistant tennis coach as well as helping in the College's admissions department. Tresoldi hails from Italy and was a standout midfielder for the Panthers from 2022-24, finishing his career with 11 goals and 6 assists. He was named First Team All-Conference in 2024 and Second Team All-Conference in 2022.

Athletics Director Ramiro Dominguez says: "Christian's leadership philosophy and commitment to developing the whole student-athlete align exceptionally well with Principia College's mission and values. His experience as an assistant coach, combined with his strong recruiting efforts that have already resulted in 14 incoming student-athletes, demonstrates both his ability to build meaningful relationships and his vision for the future of our men's soccer program. We look forward to the positive impact that Christian will continue to make on our students and campus community."

Tresoldi says: "I am super excited to take over the men's soccer program. I want to thank Markus Bathelt for all he did for me and the team, and I look forward to continuing what we started last year. We have strong players returning and a talented recruiting class coming in. It's going to be a thrilling environment to work with, and I can't wait to start!"

Lee Barron, who assisted the men's soccer team the last two seasons, will stay on as the program's Associate Head Coach.
